Not without maple syrup, it isn’t.

Sausage links SUCK! SAGE or Maple patties all day.
Also, bacon is best when cooked in the oven.

RETRACT OR BAN

NO BAN. ONLY SAUSAGE.

Don’t know about you, but my lower colon will tolerate about 5 times the bacon by weight that it will sausage, plus I can make a BLT with bacon, put it on a burger...
That’s pretty convincing to me.

I got frustrated with trying to get bacon right so I moved on to sausage, I have never made such a profound life changing decision before. Breakfast sausage has changed my life and is bringing peace to earth and good will to mankind.

I assume when you put it on a rack so the grease can drip down.

HELLLLL NOOOO!!!!!
Are you drinking that American piss water you call beer again?
Seriously, if this is what it’s doing to your head, STOP IT!!!!
Bacon is amazing.
Whether it’s British , American or Canadian.
Wrapped around a burrito
Part of a breakfast
Wrapped around a hotdog sausage
Basted with Maple Syrup in a toasted naan
Wrapped in puff pastry with a little cheese
Wrapped around onion rings

I never said bacon was bad.
![]() 09/12/2018 at 20:08 |

Bacon is far better than sausage*.
Though Cumberland Sausage is damned close.
![]() 09/12/2018 at 20:10 |

Nope. Base layer of foi l, 1st layer of parchment paper, then bacon, then 2nd layer of parchment paper pressed down on the bacon. Cook in preheated oven at 400°F for 17-25 minutes. Adjust temperature and time accordingly. Once you are done removing the bacon, take the edges off the bottom foil layer to gently cup it so you can drop it straight into the trash, so it makes cleaning up easier.

Too much work for me. I like to microwave. I can do multiple layers alternating with paper towels and do an entire pound because I have the time worked out perfectly.
I remember they sold those microwave racks where you could drape the bacon over them and it would drip down. Never tried one though.

I’m generally in agreement, preferring sausage over bacon, but there’s at least one place you can’t make the substitution:

Bacon is delicious.
Not as delicious as sausage, but delicious nonetheless.
This is a good opinion, carry on.

This is even better then just bacon or sausage. Total win!

Don’t tell my wife but I agree (in reality it works out, we get brunch all the time and she hogs the bacon and I receive sausage for sharing. )

On second thought , you’re not nearly as wrong as I thought you were at first.

I love both.

Sausage links are easier to cook. That’s the only advantage I see to bacon. PLAIN breakfast sausage is boring. Maybe I’ve been tainted with the generic breakfast diner links that come a dime a dozen, but the smokey, salty flavor of bacon will always win me over. Now, if you’re referring to maple links to bacon, its a close call. But the plain sausage links have little to no flavor compared to bacon.
I just eat both and continue to be festively plump.

Good bacon is better than the best sausage. However sausage is much less likely to get screwed up by a drunk/hungover cook than bacon. Therefore you are much better off ordering sausage at a restaurant.

Everyone likes bacon because unless you burn it, it’s hard to get wrong.
Sausage is more complex. I’ve had breakfast sausage so good that would make you forget bacon existed and I’ve had it so bad that I didn’t eat it for two years.
What I’m trying to say is, I 100% agree with you but I get why bacon is more popular

Big brain: Ham

I disagree. Bacon is more flexible. When is the last time you had breakfast sausage for something other than breakfast?
![]() 09/12/2018 at 23:36 |

Today. When I had it for dinner.

Learn to cook bacon better. It’s easy. Medium heat, long time.

Had it last night. My go-to when my wife’s away. Bought a big new pan and was able to do 5 big, thick strips of bacon at once and fry 4 eggs with plenty of room for each. Flaky biscuits in the oven, and orange juice and fruit on the side. Never get tired of it... Now to convince my 5 year old that he like “dip” eggs (over easy) like the other two.

Yeah, well, my kids get more than their fair share of fried potatoes, and we usually eat breakfast out once a week, so they get their allotment of hash browns there. =)

![]() 09/13/2018 at 12:23 |

I was stuck for a word in the moment for it.
It’s a wrap with mixed grated cheese, minced beef with onions and peppers in a sweet and spices Mexican sauce, wrapped in a tortilla, then wrapped in streaky (American bacon) and I initially was going to oven bake it but chose to fry it is butter.
![]() 09/13/2018 at 12:46 |

YES.....!
I will make something similar over the weekend.
![]() 09/13/2018 at 13:39 |

You lay down a layer of paper towel in a glass baking dish and put a layer of bacon strips over it. Then, you repeat the layers over that until you have the whole package in there. Put paper towels on top. Next, you microwave on high, best if your oven rotates the turntable while cooking, until done. What done means depends on the power of your microwave. You’ll have to experiment at first to find out what your optimal time is for the level of done-ness you prefer. Start out with 5 minutes and then go up in two or three minute intervals from there. I know that I can do an entire 12 ounce package of bacon in 12 minutes on mine. The strips on top will be done a bit sooner than the interior layers. If that’s an issue for you, you take off the top layer sooner.

Me too, but our love of sausage is very similar.

Ooooooor: bake in oven.
![]() 09/13/2018 at 20:41 |

Best part of doing bacon in the oven: bacon weave. Weave the strips at the start and when you bake it it’ll become a firm, crispy sheet of woven bacon. You can pick it up without it falling apart, cut it into pieces to use in sandwiches, form it into a taco shell, use it as the crust for a pizza, etc etc.
